🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨Arne Slot requests that Liverpool activate the £51.4m release clause of a player targeted by Manchester City, who is expected to shine at Euro 2024. ARNE SLOT TELLS LIVERPOOL TO MOVE FAST With several other top teams interested, Arne Slot has demanded the club move quick for his number one target. What a first signing it'll be! 👏 FULL STORY
Dutch coach Slot is poised to take over from Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager this summer, as Klopp steps down after nine years in charge.
The Reds have reached an agreement with Slot’s current club Feyenoord for the 45-year-old to transition to Anfield, although his appointment has not been formally announced yet.
Slot has been transparent about his aspiration to lead Liverpool and recently emphasized that his transition will soon be completed.
As Feyenoord’s Eredivisie season approaches its conclusion this weekend, Slot has begun strategizing for his new role. He is eager to recruit a new playmaker, with RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo being his top priority.
The 26-year-old Spaniard offers versatility, capable of playing centrally or on the flanks, which would enhance Liverpool’s already adaptable attacking options.
As per Spanish outlet Nacional, Slot has urged Liverpool to activate Olmo’s £51.4m release clause in his Leipzig contract before other clubs, such as Barcelona and Manchester City, make their moves. Guardiola, in particular, is known to be a big admirer of the playmaker.
Liverpool has prior experience dealing with Leipzig, having acquired Dominik Szoboszlai from the German club last summer by activating his £60m release clause.
Despite Szoboszlai’s mixed season, Liverpool’s past dealings with Leipzig suggest they won’t be deterred from pursuing another player from the club.
The presence of a release clause in Olmo’s contract should spare Liverpool the prolonged negotiations Manchester City endured to sign Josko Gvardiol from Leipzig last summer.
Olmo is poised to be a key player for Spain at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.
The 2012 European champions will face Italy, Croatia, and Albania in the group stages of the tournament.
